Music producer Takeshi Kobayashi and musician Kazutoshi Sakurai are invited by composer Ryuichi Sakamoto to join Artists' Power, a project founded by Sakamoto to gather artists and musicians interested in promoting renewable energy. Kobayashi launches a seminar series on environmental issues. A guest speaker suggests the idea of starting a "citizens' bank."

Oct 20 Limited-edition release (300,000 copies) of the Bank Band's Soushisouai album (containing cover songs). Starting with this album, all profits from CD and DVD sales go to apbank's activity fund.
Nov 9–11, 15–17 The second Bank Band live concert is held at Ebisu Garden Place in Tokyo and Blue Note in Osaka.
Mar 21 Production completed for "to U," the Bank Band's first original single (music by Kobayashi, lyrics by Sakurai).

Jun ap bank fund (launched September 2007) donates a portion of profits of the Bank Band tune “Harumatsu Ibuki” as relief funds for victims of the Niigata Chuetsu Offshore Earthquake (Japan), a devastating cyclone in Myanmar, and a major earthquake in Sichuan (China).
Jul 10 Sales launch of the book “Environment and Desire: Tokyo Creators’ Meeting,” carrying interviews and other features from the AP BANG! TOKYO CREATORS' MEETING.
Jul 19-21 ap bank's fourth outdoor music festival, ap bank fes'08, is held in Tsumagoi (Kakegawa, Shizuoka Prefecture). For the first time, the festival uses carbon offsets for the CO2 emitted from transporting concertgoers, performers and staff to and from the venue.
